In today’s music industry it is harder than it has ever been for artists to get their music noticed. For the majority of musicians the short-term goal is just to get their music into the hands of people that may enjoy it and support them in the future. For others the main goal is to get the attention of labels. Whatever your specific goal is, the one thing that is for sure is marketing your music online has become absolutely necessary. However, it seems as if artists have been utilizing MySpace as if it is the end all be all for promoting your music. The fact of the matter is that, although the site does provide exposure like no other in terms of sheer numbers, there are a few things that they have definitely failed to capitalize on.
The fact of the matter is that large web 2.0 sites keep losing the appeal to fans of independent music for the simply fact that the larger they become the more they lose touch of their roots. This is why many new 2.0 music sites have been emerging and getting a ton of attention. One that I was recently shown by a fellow musician is www.PartyAve.com. This great site has the feeling that MySpace had originally, however it seems to be doing a much better job and attempting to connect musicians with their fans. The integration of events and artist profiles is the perfect opportunity for those looking for a great alternative to other popular sites. However the fact that the site is set to introduce the ability for artists to sell their music through the site is the reason that so many have turned to this great new alternative. If I were a musician starting out I wouldn’t hesitate to check this great site out and I will definitely keep you updated with updates made to the services for artists at PartyAve.com. Don’t wait to get an account and put up your music to share with the rest of the community!
